A Gold Star Family is the immediate family member(s) of a fallen service member who died while serving in a time of conflict.

The Purple Heart medal is presented to service members who have been wounded or killed as a result of enemy action while serving in the U.S. military. A Purple Heart is a solemn distinction and means a service member has greatly sacrificed themselves, or paid the ultimate price, while in the line of duty.

Wounded Warrior is defined as someone who is very serious or seriously wounded, ill or injured. They have complex medical issues that keep them from performing one or more tasks in the military, many facing medical retirement following years of treatment.
